Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July, a few images of fireworks from past years.

We took these photos of the Austin Country Club fourth of July fireworks off of austin 360 bridge which is situated over Lake Austin this year and it was a great show. All the boats came out to watch the show along with many on the cliffs nearby and on the Pennybacker bridge or the 360 bridge and the fireworks in Austin put on by the country club were spectacular. There were more boats in the water as their were people watching from land. (Tod Grubbs)

Austin Skyline Aerial

After what seems likes months of nothing but over cast and rain we finally had a good day with partly cloudy skys and sun on Memorial day. We captured the following 2 images of the Austin skyline just before sun set. You may notice there are no one on the water on the holiday. The LCRA had closed the lakes due to flood waters and were releasing flood water from Lake Travis. The first image is about an hour before sun set and the second was just as the sun dipped below the horizon behind us.

We capture this Austin Skyline along Lady Bird Lake with the downtown area including the Texas Capital and the UT Tower in this Panorama. The one day where we saw the sun come out in some time. This image capture the view down Lady Bird Lake with the Lamar bridge, all the way to Congress with the city along the shoreline. (Tod Grubbs & Cynthia Hestand)

Captured this aerial pano image of the Austin skyline downtown over Lady Bird Lake at sunset. This image includes all the way to Texas Capital to UT Tower. This cityscape image was a fleeting capture only got these great sky with pink colors for a moment. We loved this view looking down Lady Bird Lake with all the high rise buildings along the shore line and the Lamar, Pfluger, along with First and Congress. We also found out that they had closed down the lake due to flooding upstream while we were shooting, just another day in Texas. (Tod Grubbs & Cynthia Hestand)

Bluebonnets and old rusty tractor

We ran across this filed of bluebonnets and Indian paint brush with an old rusted out tractor while driving around the Texas Hill country looking for blue bonnet images.

We love these colorful wildflowers of bluebonnets, and indian paintbrush in this field with an old rusty tractor in the Texas Hill Country. (Tod Grubbs & Cynthia Hestand)

Bluebonnets and Longhorns

One of the trips though the Hill Country we ran across a heard of Longhorns in a patch of bluebonnets. This image I captured 2 adults and 1 baby calf with little horns, he was tooo cute.

We capture this image with this family of Texas Longhorn and her calf plus friend who stopped to pose for this picture in the bluebonnets. The mother is on the right and when we came the first time she took her calf as far away as possible from us. The second visit I guess did it. We loved all the different version of horns and this calf with his little horns were just too adorable in this field of bluebonnets. (Tod Grubbs & Cynthia Hestand)

Bluebonnet sunset 2

Another bluebonnet sunset we captured in the Texas Hill country this spring. This was from the only large field of bluebonnets we found this year.

We captured this wonderful field of bluebonnets at sunset in the Texas Hill Country. We have some outstanding captures of wildflowers in the Hill Country over the last few years hoping it continues. (Tod Grubbs & Cynthia Hestand)

Bluebonnet sunset

Bluebonnet sunset from the Texas Hill Country.

We captured this gorgeous sunset landscape with the bluebonnets one evening while at a county park along the Colorado river. The colors of the sky that came out with the sunset were beautiful with the oranges, pinks and reds. Couldn't ask for a better sunset over the Texas wildflowers along the waters edge. Wild flowers

For the last 2 months we have been on the wild flower hunt across central Texas, We have many images to process and will be posing them shortly. Every good day we were on the road, off the road chasing down county dirt roads in search of wild flowers. Here are a few from last year we pull up from the vault.

We wanted to pull one more image of the Muleshoe bluebonnets out from 2014 from our first capture of these incredible field of wildflowers. It was a little later on as the sun dipped a little lower and had a lot more orange colors in the sky for sunset. (Tod Grubbs & Cynthia Hestand)

We came across this ranch in the Texas Hill Country of this endless sea of bluebonnets. The landscape is covered in blue bonnets that seem to go on and on through out the countryside. It was a gorgerous day and loved the mix of bluebonnets and green grass and mesquite tree along with a blue sky with puffy white clouds in this hill country landscape. (TOD GRUBBS)

Lake Travis is finally full

We have been waiting for months to get this image with light clouds with the lake full after 6 years of drought and supper low levels. The lake is less than 1 foot from full when we captured this image.

This is an aerial pano view of Lake Travis taken at around 300 AGL ft. We loved that the lake is finally full for the first time in many years and we had good clouds and sky on this day. You can see the marina below, along with the dam, and the full bowl of the lake and you can also see the river channel as it meanders though the hill country. (Tod Grubbs & Cynthia Hestand)

This is one of the favorite places for locals of Austin along with tourist to visit. The lake is a favorite for boating, sailing swimming and any other water sports you can think of. Colorful Texas Sunset

Here is an image we captured a few weeks ago of a very colorful sunset.

We loved the different colors we kept getting as the sunset made way for dusk and of course we continued to try and capture these wonderful colors over this scenic Texas landscape before nightfall (Tod Grubbs & Cynthia Hestand)

South Congress night life

We adventured out last night to South Congress after sunset to get some night life shots. South Congress has changed tremendously over the years and has gone from run down and abandoned to now a vibrant part of Austin with many boutique business and restaurants with a view of downtown. Torchys just opened a new restaurant on South Congress. Here are a few image we captured.

We wanted to take some street shot of the latest Torchys to go in Austin on South Congress. Torchys Tacos has become the place to go to eat the most unique tacos, so much so that sometimes the wait is a while just to get a seat, but well worth it. You can see downtown with the always bright Frost Tower in downtown along with the endless cars on a slow night like tonight making there way up Congress looking for parking which is a premium at at anytime. Weekend are so crazy well what can I say Austin love it streets, Sixth, West Sixth, West Third and of course South Congress all the up and coming places to be in this very active location. You can find live music, fine dinning, street food or unique tacos all along this quirky street in this active city. (Tod Grubbs & Cynthia Hestand)

The view down South Congress as the cars pass leaving these light trails. The store are open and people are milling around checking out the stores and the many restaurants along this area. You can see the downtown area with the Frost, Austonian and other high rise buildings. This area at one time was not someplace people went it was considered seed but in the last twenty or so years it has come back for locals and tourist to come to. (Tod Grubbs & Cynthia Hestand)
